The SFS Award is a recognition that celebrates individuals who have significantly impacted the Free Software scene in South Tyrol during 2024. This award highlights contributors who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership and influence within the Free Software movement in our local region.
About the SFS Award
This award focuses on developers, advocates, and community leaders who have driven Free Software forward in South Tyrol. While their contributions may not gain global recognition, they are vital to the growth and sustainability of Free Software in our local community.
How to Nominate
To nominate a candidate for the SFS Award, complete the local nomination form. Think of individuals who have made substantial contributions to Free Software within South Tyrol.
In the nomination form, please include:
- Candidate’s full name
- A brief biography or curriculum vitae (CV)
- A concise list of the candidate’s most impactful Free Software projects in our local region
- A short explanation of why you believe this person deserves the award
As with the European award, you may submit your name or remain anonymous.

How to Nominate
To nominate a deserving individual for the European SFS Award, simply fill out our nomination form. Your input is essential in helping us identify those who have made exceptional contributions to Free Software.
The nomination process is straightforward and respects your privacy. In the Nomination Form (below) you should include:
- Candidate’s full name
- A brief biography or curriculum vitae (CV)
- A concise list of the candidate’s most relevant Free Software projects
- A short text explaining your motivation for the nomination
You also have the option to submit your name alongside the nomination, but anonymity is respected if you prefer to nominate someone anonymously.

The European SFS Award and SFS Award ceremony will take centre stage on the first day of the SFSCON conference, on Friday, November 8, 2024.
This event will recognise the exceptional contributions of both global and local Free Software advocates.
